Why I started Drop-In Class:
Drop-in classes are the best. You get to sign up last-minute on Mindbody or Peloton, have fun learning something for a bit, and leave. You can dabble in different activities in a short time, whether it's yoga or pottery or cooking.
Here's something I've noticed about a good class: It's infotainment. The most effective instructors take something that could have been boring and terrible, like running on a treadmill, and they make it fun and interesting and personable. They throw on a killer playlist and tell relatable stories.
My plan: Deliver my own version of drop-in classes for today's relevant technology concepts, from cloud, to IoT, to (yes) AI. I promise to be quick, entertaining, and informative, and you'll get to know me because I write how I talk to a friend.
In other words, I'm just like a Peloton instructor. Except I can't run very far.
Is this newsletter for you? Ask yourself the following questions:
Are you curious about what's making the world work, and you want to learn things in real time with me?
Are you getting bombarded with a dizzying number of new acronyms, like RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), LLM (large language model) and NLP (natural language processing)?
Can you tolerate my excessive use of analogies?
If the answer to any of these is "Yes!" or "I think so?" or even "No, but I'm somewhat amused," then subscribe and see what happens!
By the way -- this is the more professional, focused twin of my personal Substack newsletter, Drop-In Journal. That one's fun too, but much more random and unhinged. Subscribe if you dare.
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you when my drop-in class is in session!
